Brooklyn, N.Y. –
BARCLAYS CENTER TO HOST BLOCKBUSTER MATCH-UP FEATURING FOUR-DIVISION WORLD CHAMPION ADRIEN BRONER VS. UNDEFEATED THREE-DIVISION CHAMPION MIKEY GARCIA ON SATURDAY, JULY 29
On Saturday, July 29, presented by Premier Boxing Champions and LIVE on SHOWTIME, former WBC Lightweight Champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner is set to face the current WBC Lightweight Champion Mikey Garcia in what is expected to be a defining moment for each fighter’s career. Broner is surely Garcia’s most notably and skilled fighter he’s faced within his career. Garcia will undoubtedly raise the bar and bring his best come fight night.
Broner (33-2, 24 KOs) will look to continue his superstar status against Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs), who himself has steamrolled each of his last two opponents since his return to the ring after some time away. For both men, this will be no easy task in defeating one another.
Since his return, Garcia has produced two spectacular knockouts, with his last knockout victory coming in brutal fashion when he destroyed former WBC lightweight champion Dejan Zlaticanin (22-1, 15 KOs) in three-dominating rounds.
He is an intelligent-highly skilled boxer with explosive power in both hands, and while also possessing phenomenal speed. Add on to his killer instinct, when Garcia senses that he has his opponent hurt, he will stop at nothing to finish them.
Garcia is all business and plays no games when’s he’s inside the ring. If he hurts you it may be a very quick night for his opponent.
In Broner, there’s no denying his talent. He too possesses the same attributes as Garcia. He can box, display his elusiveness, while ripping off lightning-quick combinations.
Once thought to be a brash and flamboyant boxer, he has shown his toughness inside and outside of the ring.
Having experienced several traumatic episodes outside of the ring during the past year, he is ready to put it all past him and reclaim his status as one of the fighters in his division and within boxing.
A win for either man can lead to a possible mega-fight with Terence Crawford (31-0, 22 KOs) WBO, WBC, Ring Lineal Super Lightweight World Champion sometime soon.
