Brooklyn, N.Y. – “The saga begins, begin war, I draw first blood, be the first to set it off.” – Prodigy

The year of 2017 in boxing has been a thrilling ride thus far, featuring fan-desired matchups, unbelievable knockouts, and several wars of attrition. As championship fights took place on huge stages here in the United States and across seas in the United Kingdom, fight fans have also been privy to witness future stars continuing their rise and building their own legacies.

Now the sport of boxing finds itself at the midway mark for the year. Toppled with the great Manny Pacquiao losing his WBO Welterweight title to Australia’s Jeff Horn, in previous years, some might say that matchups which took place after this point weren’t as exciting as others beforehand. However, for the next three months, the “BOXING GODS” have made sure to put that notion to bed, in supreme fashion. For the next three months, the sport, the generation, and culture of boxing will change in dramatic fashion. The tale of tape begins as such:

Floyd Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) vs Conor McGregor (0-0-0)

The “TWO-BIGGEST NAMES and BIGGEST MONEY-MAKERS in COMBAT SPORTS TODAY” are locked in – signed, sealed, and ready to take both sports (boxing and mixed-martial arts) to the highest of heights. For fight fans of both men, this is a “WIN – WIN” situation for all.

There are many “naysayers” who have voiced their opinion, in saying that that this fight is a disgrace to the history of boxing. There are many people who object to this fight taking place. However, currently in society, how can we deny two men, one who has reigned supreme against the elite in his sport, from fighting another man who has also has succession in his sport, and all parties have come together in agreeance to build a “conglomerate.” The fight will be of worthy cause for all to watch as the press conferences and build up to the opening round, will be the biggest fight to ever take place between two men inside the squared circle. Words cannot describe what will take place on fight night but what we can all be sure of is that the “world” will be watching “intently to see the beginning, middle, and end” of the “highest grossing fight in history.”

WBC (World), WBA (Super), IBF, IBO, RING (LINEAL) MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSIP – 12 Rounds

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) vs Gennaddy “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs)

When two of the best middleweight champions collide on fight night it will be for “Middleweight Supremacy.”

Alvarez, the former WBC Middleweight Champion and current Ring (Lineal) Middleweight champion will be going to war, “Mexican Style”, against Golovkin, a man who has destroyed mostly all his opponents in knockout fashion. Golovkin, the WBC (World), WBA (Super), IBF, and IBO Middleweight Champion of the world is a wrecking ball. Alvarez is slightly different, but he possesses the same fortitude as his opponent. And this is what makes this fight so intriguing. Both men bring explosive power, a tactical style to complement their understanding of where and how to place punches, solely focused on scoring a victory by any means.

A fight of this magnitude has been in the hearts and minds of fight fans for years. It’s also a fight that both men have been preparing throughout their respective careers. Their styles mirror one another and on September 16, they face each other.
