Brooklyn, N.Y. – The date for the HBO-PPV mega middleweight championship fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Gennady “GGG” Golovkin has been set (September 16, 2017) since Alvarez’s one-sided domination of Julio Caesar Chavez Jr., back on May 6, 2017. With the recent announcement of the fight taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, fight fans are expected to come out in the thousands to witness one of the most eagerly/anticipated matchups in recent years.

Outside of the possible fight between Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor, “Canelo” Alvarez vs Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is a fight that will utterly reshape the sport of boxing.

The variables of how this fight can play out are undefined: “ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.” Both men are fantastic fighters that possess equal skill, power, and speed. But as most fighters would say “Boxing is 90% mental, 10% skill; the goal is to hit and not get hit.” For these warriors, that goal will be nullified as early as round one.

Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs), the former WBC middleweight champion, WBC super welterweight champion, WBA super welterweight champion, and WBO super welterweight champion is ranked at number one as the best middleweight in the world. With his only career loss coming from the great Floyd Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs), he has continued to dominate each of his opponents in supreme fashion. His knockout reels against James Kirkland and Amir Khan are legendary to say the least.

Golovkin, the undefeated WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and IBO middleweight champion, is surprisingly ranked at number two in the world as the best middleweight in boxing. Early betting odds have him as the favorite, predicting him to come out as the winner of this fight. Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) has handily defeated all his thirty-seven opponents thus far: thirty-three of them coming by vicious knockout fashion. When Golovkin sits down and lets his power go, it’s almost guaranteed that his opponent will not be the same fighter after their match.

The “Art of War” is cold and calculated. When trying to defeat your enemy you must take all things into consideration. Alvarez is the one fighter that Golovkin needs to defeat, to cement his legacy as one of the best middleweight fighters in the history of the sport. For Alvarez, the mindset is the same. Both men have a tremendous fan base and rightfully so. Both men are electrifying; not only can they both stop a fight in a blink of an eye, but they also showcase a reasoning as to why others should not face them.

There’s no telling as to what will take place on fight night. You can bet, put your cards on the table, and be sure to enjoy a spectacular middleweight showdown between two fighters who have been destined to meet each other in a professional atmosphere, since their early days of sparring.
