Brooklyn, N.Y. – “I caught the boxing bug and now I’m all in.” – James Torre

Local New York City fight cards have always paved the way to give many fighters the opportunity to showcase their skills and talent within the ring. Local fight cards help an up and coming talent build a great support system for the continuance of their career. With the recent changes of regulations within the NYSAC (New York State Athletic Commission – increase in insurance requirements) local boxing promoters fighters have had a difficult time putting together fight cards within local venues to showcase local talent.

Fighters such as James Torre (1-0), who began boxing after “I caught the boxing bug and now I’m all in” are forced to take their talent and fight in other cities. Training out of the famed and historic Gleason’s Boxing Gym, “The Bull” is ready to further his career and is training extremely hard as he readies himself for his second professional fight.

“I’m feeling good,” Torre said, “I’m looking to get back in the ring soon.”

“I will be fighting at 140lb. This will be my second professional fight. The tentative date for my next fight is February 18, in Raleigh, NC. I don’t have an opponent yet but when I do I’ll be sure to let everyone know.”

Torre trains and spars on a regular basis. He works with some of the best trainers within the boxing scene in New York City. “The Bull” has aspirations on fighting more frequently.

“I’d like to fight more often,” Torre said, “I’d love to fight four times a year if I could.”

“I want to fight as often as possible. I’ll fight wherever I can. There’s no one in particular that I’d like to fight. I need the experience and I need to remain active.”

Torre, who began boxing later in age, fully understands his current position, as it relates to taking his career further in the professional ranks.

“I know that I started my career late (age) but I plan to take my career as far as I can.”

“I enjoy boxing. Once I began the journey of losing weight I caught the boxing bug and have stuck with it ever since.”

Torre, the tough and strong Italian-American boxer, works hard and is appreciative for all the support he receives from his friends and family.

“My friends and family support me 100% with my decision to box. The support that I receive helps me to stay healthy. My daughters are proud of me. They think I’m a famous fighter. I want to keep them both happy as well as my wife.”

“I’m having fun. Wherever God wants my career to go that’s the direction I am taking it in.”
