By Nat Wilkins, Panama City, Panama, 3/6/18—BrooklynFights recently dropped by the famed Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama to catch up with 6x world boxing champ, Dayana “El Diamante” Cordero.

Cordero, originally from Colombia, trains at the facility, where we met up with her and her husband and manager, Alex. The two were eager to extend their hospitality to us with an inside look at the Panama City boxing scene, one that thrives in a place where Everlast has a significant retail presence in the main airport.

The gym facility at the Roberto Duran Arena complex has an open air feel, with large aircraft hangar style doors that stay open, letting a bit of breeze cut through the tropical swelter.

Check out the video to hear what El Diamante, who describes herself as a boxer who likes to “hit and run,” has to say about her upcoming fight, scheduled for 4/27 in Colombia, where she will face Jessica Gonzalez. El Diamante also tells us about her extensive amateur career, including fights with men, and more.
