Brooklyn, N.Y. – Roy Jones Boxing Promotions is extremely focused and determined to give fight fans the best possible matches with the best fighters. In staying true to the vision and mission they have added Aston Palicte to their expanding roster of fighters. Palicte holds a record of 21-2, with 19 of his wins coming by way of knockout.

The IBF Pan Pacific and former IBF Youth and WBO Oriental Super-Flyweight Champion Palicte ranked #11 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and #15 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO). The Philippine native Palicte is a tall fighter for his division. Standing at 5’8 and possessing concussive punching power Palicte has his sights set on defeating all opponents within the super flyweight division. The winner of the highly anticipated showdown between the powerful Filipino and the Texan will position one of the fighters for a world title fight in 2017.

“I was very happy when I saw the contract because there are so many boxers out there,” Palicte said.

“I was one of the ones they chose.  I would also like to thank Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions for the trust they are giving me, they are a big help, especially in my career.”

“Aston Palicte possesses all the right tools to become a World Champion,” stated Keith Veltre, Co-Founder & CEO of Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions.

“He is in the hottest, up and coming division and we decided we wanted to make a play at that division. Roy and I looked at Aston and both agreed he possess all the tools that a fighter needs to compete at that level. Roy Jones Jr Boxing Promotions is making a big move this year and Aston will help us get there.”

The super flyweight division is stacked with good competition and features many champions such as WBA super flyweight champion Luis Concepcion (35-4, 24 KOs); WBO super flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (11-0, 9 KOs); IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas (25-1, 16 KOs); and pound – 4 – Pound WBC super flyweight champion Roman “Chocalito” Gonzalez (46-0, 38 KOs). Palicte has his sights set on challenging one of these champions in hopes of dethroning them. Palicte’s first duty assignment under his new promoter is scheduled to take place on December 17 in Las Vegas, NV at the Down Town Las Vegas Event Center (DLVEC). He is scheduled to face Oscar Cantu 14-0 (1KO) on the final series on Knockout Night at the D, as both fighters are vying for the (vacant) WBO Inter-Continental super flyweight title. Cantu will be defending his NABF super flyweight championship.
