Brooklyn, N.Y. – In life, you are often faced with making difficult decisions, especially when it determines the future livelihood of someone who you admire, respect, and consider a friend. For Staten Island’s undefeated light heavyweight contender Marcus Browne and Long Island’s undefeated light heavyweight contender Seanie Monaghan, both men are in position to take their respective careers to the next level, towards fighting for a world championship. Both men are fathers, have families to take care of, and have set their feelings aside to do what needs to be done and that’s win.

“Someone’s (0) Has Got To Go.” – Michael Buffer

The famed words, spoken so eloquently by the International Boxing Hall of Fame ring announcer, is exactly what’s expected to take place on fight night. Monaghan (28-0, 17 KOs) and Browne (19-0, 14 KOs) are both world class fighters. Monaghan, the former WBC Continental Americas Light Heavyweight Champion, has been eager to face the best of the best in his division. He has never ducked an opponent, always willing and easy to face the top champions in his division. The same case can be made for Browne. The 2012 United States Olympian and current WBC USNBC Light Heavyweight title holder is one of the best fighters in his division. Both men have continued to defeat their opponents in impressive fashion, while steadily climbing the ranks in their division.

“This Island Isn’t Big Enough for The Two of Us”

With their many sparring sessions and personal one-on-one conversations cemented, the time has come for both men to face each other in the professional ranks, under the bright lights and inside the newly reconstructed Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

For Monaghan, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a place that he has always dreamed of fighting at, especially in front of his hometown fans:

“It is a dream come true to be fighting at the Coliseum, which is literally right next to the track where I run every day. It is an honor to represent Long Island in the first boxing event held at this venue in 31 years. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this for a long time and I feel that this bout will bring a new chapter in my career. On July 15, I am putting everything on the line.”

Browne, who received a proclamation in his hometown town of Staten Island and was honored with his own day of the calendar, July 6, 2017 in Staten Island will forever be known as “Marcus Browne Day.” With this prestigious honor bestowed upon him, Browne will be sure to bring his best come fight night.

“July 15 is going to be fireworks. Everyone knows that we know each other. But the buddy-buddy talk is out of the window. This is a fight. We both have kids to feed. I have a destiny that is already written, and Seanie is in the way of that.”

Televised coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the first boxing event at the Coliseum since Mike Tyson headlined in 1986.

“Boxing’s grand return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum is going to be wall-to-wall action,” – Lou DiBella (President of DiBella Entertainment)

“The Coliseum has a rich history in boxing, having hosted notable fights with the likes of Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, and Gerry Cooney, among others,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment.

“We are thrilled to build on the sport’s heritage on Long Island, and to bring boxing back to the venue 31 years later with a major event on network television.”
