Brooklyn, NY (Queens, NY) – “I’m a fighter and a young woman living my dream.” – Destiny Quinones
On March 10, 2018, live at the Chez Josef in Agawam, MA fight fans are sure to be attendance for Premier Fighting Championship 25, a mixed-martial arts fight card, to witness the professional debut of amateur sensation Destiny Quinones. Nicknamed the “The Caged Cutie” Quinones is scheduled to take on Lisa Blaine, an opponent that she knows very well.
“I was supposed to have my first professional MMA match previously in December but I broke my foot. Now I’m ready to perform. It’s been long awaited. I’m ready to put it all on the line.”
“I’m fighting in the Straw-Weight (115lb) division. I’ll be fighting Lisa. She’s actually a friend of mine and I’m excited to be facing her in my first professional fight.”
In speaking with Quinones, she shared her experience in fighting in the amateur scene and how it has prepared her for her long-awaited professional debut. Quinones also described her extensive training regimen.
“I started my MMA career when I was eighteen. I’ve had sixteen fights as an amateur. I’ve won several titles as an amateur. I could’ve turned professional some time ago but I wanted to make sure that I was ready. Fighting as an amateur, you’re allowed to make mistakes. Fighting as a professional you cannot make a mistake because it will affect your career.”
“I fight out of Kai Next Level MMA Gym. I train every day and I train extremely hard. I’ve trained in kickboxing, boxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve also trained with UFC fighters and UFC coaches. I love to compete.”
In speaking with Quinones’ head trainer Kai, he explained:
“Destiny’s training days are not normal. She’s the hardest person I have worked with. People are contacting us all the time to sign and match her up against their opponents. She started her MMA career at eighteen and now she’s twenty-two. We’re focused on the best opportunities for her career.”
Quinones is a fighter at heart, but there’s more than “meets the eye” when faced against this talented beauty. Her love for life and animals is a hidden gem in her ever-growing popularity and portfolio.
“Growing up, I had a lot of built up anger. I went to the gym to release it. I quickly fell in love with mix-martial arts and Brazilian Ju-Jitsu.”
“Now I direct most of the operations within the gym, while running the mixed-martial arts and afterschool program. I help and work with the parent and youth from my community to connect. I’ve been where they’re at (young men and women). I want to continue in being a role model and motivating factor for others to accomplish and achieve their dreams.”
“My ultimate goal is to open a shelter for exotic animals. That is another passion that I have and goal that I know I will accomplish.”
On March 10, live on Premier Fighting Championship 25, Quinones is focused and determined in putting all of her hard work and tireless hours in gym to secure an electrifying win for her many fans, friends, family, and supporters. A sensational win on this mix-martial arts card will open many doors for the “Caged-Cutie” in the future.
“Women’s MMA is evolving. In the beginning, champions such as Cris Cyborg, Ronda Rousey, and Meisha Tate dominated the sport. Now fighters are more rounded; they’ve adjusted. I’ve also adjusted and became more of a striker, while also being able to use my wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills. After this fight, my goal is to get matched against someone in Bellator or UFC.”
“I’m extremely thankful and appreciative for all the support that I receive from my sponsors (MMA Signatures, Focus International, Sadistic Athletics, Sicchic, Ultra-Five, In the Girls Corner, MMA News, and Tipsy Tomatoes).”
“I want to thank my team. My coach Kai; my training partners, Anthony Delan and Master Chen. I also want to thank my family and fans. I’m a fighter and a young woman living my dream. I’m looking to defeat my opponent as quick as possible. After this fight, there will be so much more to come.”
