Undefeated and social media sensation Ryan Garcia was knocked down by title contender and Olympic Gold Medalist Luke Campbell during their bout for the vacant WBC Lightweight Title.
Garcia, who was dropped hard in the second by clean left hand from Campbell, came back to win via knockout, after landing sensational left-hook to the body of his opponent.
In after rising from the canvass from his second round knockdown, Garcia maintained his composure and utilized his height, reach and speed, out-punching and scoring against his opponent.
During the round seven, Garcia kept his momentum and landed his patented left hook to body of Campbell.
It was clear that “Cool Hand Luke” wasn’t so clear and was unable to recover from such a great punch.
Garcia, undefeated, and now the WBC Interim Champion, called out (2-division) and (3x) world champion Gervonta Davis to unification bout.
“I said it before and I’ll say it again: I WANT TANK.”
Before Garcia can face Davis, he must face the current WBC 135lb champion Devin Haney or maybe even the WBC 135lb franchise champion Teofimo Lopez.
Each fighter named are undefeated, but the easiest fight to be made would be Haney vs Garcia given that both men fight on the DAZN platform and that Garcia is now Haney’s mandatory challenger.
We’ll see what happens in the coming months within this stacked division.
