Brooklyn, NY (The Theater at Madison Square Garden) –

Top-rated pound-for-pound fighters and Olympic legends VASILY “Hi-Tech” LOMACHENKO (9-1, 7 KOs) and GUILLERMO “El Chacal” RIGONDEAUX (17-0, 1 NC, 11 KOs) are set to face one another this coming Saturday night, December 9, live on ESPN at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. The timing of this mega-fight could not come at a better time, as this is the holiday season, the season for giving.

This highly anticipated matchup between two of the best southpaw boxers in Olympic and professional boxing’s history has been brewing for years, with both men anxiously awaiting the opportunity to show the world why they should be considered as “THE BEST SOUTHPAW IN BOXING.”

The amount of accomplishments that each fighter achieved in their career is astonishing. Also, their fighting styles are very unique, if not similar. Both men are quick, defensive, and possess great counter-punching ability. Their timing when placing precise punches is deadly, which often scores knockouts for each of them. What’s also impressive for both men is the fact that each man is a world champion.

Rigondeaux, aka “The Jackal” aka “El Chacal”, is a seven-time Cuban National Champion (2000-2006). He’s won three gold medals at the IBA (International Boxing Association) World Cup Boxing tournament (2002, 2005, 2006); two gold medals at the AIBA World Boxing Championships (2001, 2005); and Olympic gold (2000, 2004).

Since turning professional, Rigondeaux has continued to dominate, winning the WBA (Super), WBO, and IBO Bantamweight title. He has held the Lineal Super Bantamweight titles since 2013 and currently is ranked at number two in the world between as the boxer in his division (118lb-122lb division).

Lomachenko, the current WBO Super Featherweight Champion, possesses an amateur record of (396-1), having won gold medals in both the AIBA World Boxing Championships (2009, 2011) and the Olympics (2008, 2012). Since winning his title he has faced the some of boxing’s best Super Featherweight fighters and champions, defeating them all in supreme fashion.

Both Lomachenko and Rigondeaux are regarded as “the best pure boxers” currently in today’s sport. The reality of this fight is that neither man will waver and more importantly, look to land that one knockout blow, and become the best of the best in boxing.
